About LineScore Prep
Built for purposeful score improvement.
LineScore Prep is an independent, free study application for applicants and serving members preparing for the ASVAB or AFCT. Its central audience is the learner who needs to understand which score matters, what feeds it, and what to study next.
Why it exists
Many preparation products speak mainly to first-time applicants. LineScore Prep also serves the Soldier studying for a higher GT score for reclassification, education, commissioning, warrant officer, or another career packet. That audience often begins with an official score record and a specific gate rather than a general desire to “do better.” The site therefore connects score explanations, current-source research, practice, flashcards, and a GT calculator instead of treating every learner as if they have the same target.
LineScore Prep does not generate recruiter leads, sell personal information, or require an account for core study. Practice progress stays in browser storage on the device. Optional Analytics is loaded only after consent and is used to understand aggregate traffic and improve the site.
How practice questions are produced
Questions are independently written from public subject outlines and curriculum concepts. They are not copied from operational test forms, recalled test questions, commercial preparation books, or another publisher’s bank. The official ASVAB program treats actual questions as controlled testing material; LineScore Prep is designed to teach the underlying aptitude without reproducing that material.
Parameterized math generators calculate keys and distractors from the numbers in each item. Distractors represent identifiable mistakes such as reversing a ratio, ignoring a unit conversion, or using the wrong exponent rule. Spatial generators render shapes in code and reject known ambiguous or rotationally congruent alternatives. Reading items use original passages. Vocabulary practice uses definitions and usage context rather than a claim that repeated exposure to a small list equals broad vocabulary.
What automated checks can and cannot prove
Before deployment, generated banks are checked for required answer count, distinct options, answer-key range, duplicate prompts, explanation presence, and generator-specific mathematical or geometric consistency. Mechanical and electronics calculations are recomputed independently from stored inputs. Assembling Objects distractors are checked against the intended rotational class. Server-rendered pages are also tested so essential guides are available to readers and search engines before client JavaScript runs.
Automation can prove that a formula recomputes or that a page contains its required material. It cannot establish that every explanation is the clearest possible teaching method or that every factual statement will remain current. For that reason, factual guides identify official sources and time-sensitive pages carry a verification and reverification date.
Editorial standards for scores and career claims
A practice percentage is never presented as an official Standard Score, AFQT percentile, or Service composite. Official scores depend on calibrated items, adaptive administration, transformations, and equating that a short independent practice session cannot reproduce. LineScore results are study signals: they help identify weak topics, repeated mistakes, and trends across fresh sessions.
Career requirements are handled as verification tasks rather than permanent tables. A guide may explain which composite to locate, how to find the current authority, and which office to confirm with. When a current numeric threshold is useful, the page links the official program source, states what the score does and does not establish, and includes a date. Meeting a score gate never is described as guaranteed eligibility or selection.
Sources and freshness
Preferred sources are the official ASVAB program, Army and other Service program offices, installation education centers, regulations, and current official packet instructions. Secondary pages may help identify a question but should not control a career decision when a primary source exists. Time-sensitive guides display a verified date and a deadline for review, normally within twelve months. A page should be reviewed earlier when the linked authority changes its rule or removes the source.
Corrections
Every practice item includes a report path. Reports should identify the subtest, topic, and what appears wrong in the stem, options, key, diagram, or explanation. A reported factual claim is checked against the cited or controlling source. A broken generated item should be corrected at the template level so the same defect does not reappear in new variants. Material with unresolved ambiguity should be removed from learner rotation until the issue is settled.
Corrections and questions may be sent to support@linescoreprep.com. The Contact page explains what information helps reproduce a problem. Do not send a Social Security number, DoD ID, complete score report, password, medical record, or other sensitive document.
Independence and limits
LineScore Prep is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or approved by the Department of Defense, USMEPCOM, or any branch of the United States Armed Forces. It cannot schedule an ASVAB, PiCAT, verification test, or AFCT; issue an access code; retrieve an official score; determine eligibility; or approve a packet. Applicants should confirm testing details with their recruiter. Serving members should confirm local procedures with the installation education center or Personnel Testing office and verify career requirements with the authority receiving the packet.
